FILLERS & ADDITIVES
Polyklear Fiberglass + Resin is also in the business of distributing fillers and additives which are used to improve the overall performance of the composite matrix.
Fillers & Additives

CHALCO ALUMINA TRIHYDRATE
A non-toxic, non-corrosive, flame-retardant and smoke suppressant additive. It is most commonly used fire retardant filler. It releases water molecules when exposed to high temperature. Mixing ratio varies from 20% to 150% depending on the application and applicator's working requirement.
Properties
Non-Toxic
Non-corrosive
Flame retardant
Smoke suppressant
Applications
Fire-retardant filler for:
a. Various casted products (solid surfaces, statues and figurines, etc.)
b. Fiber-reinforced plastics
c. Bulk Molding Compounds (BMCs)/Sheet Molding Compounds (SMCs)

CHINA TALCUM POWDER MESH
China Talcum Powder Mesh, also known as Hydrated Magnesium Silicate, this is the softest known mineral. It is added in the resin matrix as a filler to increase the volume. It enhances the sanding properties and reduces the skin irritation from the fiber reinforcement.
Note: The recommended mixing ratio is 2 parts Talc to 1 part resin to result in a smooth, creamy semi-paste. Exact filler proportion will vary by application depending on the desired consistency.
Properties
Enhance sanding properties
Increases weight, stiffness and electrical resistance to resins
Applications
Stone casts (statues, figurines, etc)
Resin putties

LC DOLO WHITE POWDER (DOLOMITE)
Also known as calcium magnesium carbonate, it is one of the most widely-used fillers in stone casting to replicate the look and feel of natural limestone. Once added to resin, Dolo white powder improves impact strength and weatherability, reduces shrinkage and minimizes crack development.
Properties
Improves impact strength
Reduces resin shrinkage
Applications
Stone castings

POLYKLEAR CALCIUM CARBONATE MESH
The most commonly used filler to increase the volume of the resin matrix and impart stone-finish. Depending on the ratio added, it can impart a smooth or rough finish. Polyklear Calcium Carbonate increases the viscosity of the resin.
Properties
Possesses high whiteness
Provides volume and increases stiffness of the matrix
Low water content
Applications
Stone castings (artificial marbles, statues and figurines, etc)
Resin putties
Thickening agent for various resins, paints and adhesives

POLYKLEAR MICROSPHERE
Polyklear Microspheres are very small, hollow glass spheres primarily used to reduce density to make an item lightweight. It adds impact strength, promotes easier sanding and produces a product that can be nailed or screwed with less chance of cracking. It is added to resin at 50-150 phr, depending on the desired consistency. Sanding of microsphere-filled resin products will make items porous, thus are not recommended to be done for applications requiring constant water contact.
Properties
Increase stiffness
Lightweight
Reduce shrinkage
Uniform sphere size
Thermal resistance
Produces an easily-sandable product
Reduces warping
Applications
Resin putties, caulks and sealants
Lightweight resin filler (stone castings, cultured marbles, etc.)
Large and flat panels

REOLOSIL FUMED SILICA
A fine, white powder added to resin to impart thixotropic property that is, resins mixed with fumed silica can be applied on vertical substrates with minimal run-off. Recommended addition is 0.3 to 0.8% of resin weight. Added at larger amounts, it thickens resin but care must be observed with formulations as adding too much produces an output that is very difficult to sand.
Properties
Minimizes resin sag
An effective thickening agent
Applications
A thickening agent thixotropic agent (resins, paints. Adhesives, etc.)
Filler for resin putties (hole/gap filling, filleting, etc.)
